The Drop is Bezl’s fast-track news format — quick reads that bring you the latest releases in under 3 minutes.

The news

Baltic has launched the Aquascaphe MK2, a full refresh of its longtime dive model. The watch is now offered in two sizes — 37 mm and 39.5 mm — both 12.9 mm thick (crystal included). The case is 316L stainless steel, featuring drilled lugs, crown guards, and a redesigned 120-click sapphire bezel. Water resistance remains at 200 m.

A diver built for daily wear as much as adventure.

Glossy blue dial shimmering under the domed sapphire crystal.

The design

The MK2 introduces a cleaner dial language: the sandwich-style layout is gone, replaced by 3D applied “Lumicast” indices filled with Super-LumiNova. Hands are larger, facets improved, and there’s now a printed chapter ring for the minute track. Dial options include glossy blue and green, or grained warm silver and grey. Bezel inserts match the dial, except on the silver model where it’s black.

Applied markers and larger hands — clarity at a glance.

The movement

Under the solid caseback sits a Miyota 9039 automatic movement with hours, minutes, and seconds (with hacking). It offers a 42-hour power reserve at 4 Hz.

Vivid green variant, full of sea-kissed energy.

Crown guards now flank the screw-down crown.

Why it matters

This update demonstrates Baltic’s maturity. After many years with the Aquascaphe Classic, the MK2 proves the brand is capable of meaningful refinements — more legibility, sharper case finishing, and options for broader wrist sizes — without betraying the spirit of the original.

Bezl’s take

Baltic has hit that sweet spot of evolution without losing identity. The dual sizes open the door for people who felt the old Aquascaphe was just a bit too large, while the sharper case, applied indices, and modern lume show they’re serious about stepping up. The blue and green dials bring energy, but the warm silver also has subtle sophistication. For under €700, it offers serious value with design and details you’d expect at a higher tier.

Having worn the MR01 for years on Baltic’s beads-of-rice bracelet, I know firsthand how much their bracelets elevate the overall experience. They’re comfortable, well-finished, and complete the watch in a way few brands at this price point manage. With the Aquascaphe MK2, the rubber strap will no doubt shine in the water and in warmer climates — but the bracelet option is hard to overlook. On a diver like this, it’s not just a matter of comfort but of character, and Baltic continues to deliver both.

Four dials, four moods: glossy blue and green bring vibrant energy, while grained silver and grey offer understated elegance.
